Grazyna Auguscik - River

Composer and singer born in the Poland, Grazyna initiated its professional career in the Europe and since the end of years 80 she is based on Chicago. She recorded and produced four records for her own label GMA. Presents a beautiful voice mixed with arrangements that present influences of the jazz, of classic and folk Polish music and, mainly of the Brazilian Bossa-Nova. She has collaborated with notables names of the jazz as: Paul Wertico, Kurt Rosenwinkel, Robert Irving III, Michal Urbaniak, Terry Callier, Patricia Barber, Leni Stern, Eric Hochberg, John McLean, David Onderdonk, Ernie Adams, Ron Perrillo, Jarek Bester and many others. In this album launched in the end of 2001, with an excellent band, Grazyna presents a mixture of styles that combined please the eclectic listener. "River" is an album where the basic line is soft, with strong influence of bossa-nova. The prominences are for tracks 3 (soft battery, accordion and vocalise), 5 (off-beat and odd harmonies), 7 (typical Callier) and 9 (pure bossa-nova). Plus a great representative of the female vocalistas in the contemporary jazz, who remembers Patricia Barber, also of Chicago, especially for the style and the arrangements. She is that type of artist who accumulates many admirers and, at the same time, many detractors - she does not have half term.

Compositora e cantora nascida na Polonia, Grazyna iniciou sua carreira na Europa e desde o final dos anos 80 está em Chicago. Gravou e produziu 4 albuns pelo seu próprio selo GMA. Apresenta uma bela voz combinada com arranjos que apresentam influências de jazz, música clássica e folk polonesa e, principalmente bossa-nova.

Os destaques são as faixas 3 (bateria suave, acordeon e o vocalise), 5 (off-beat and atonal), 7 (típica Callier) and 9 (pura bossa-nova).
Mais uma grande representante das vocalistas femininas no jazz contemporâneo, que lembra Patricia Barber, também de Chicago, especialmente pelo estilo e pelos arranjos. É aquele tipo de artista que acumula muitos admiradores e, ao mesmo tempo, muitos detratores - não tem meio termo.
